The topic of being a witness for Christ is something that God has strongly placed on my heart lately and I feel that this is something that I personally have fallen short in and I feel that God is wanting to remind me but I also feel that this message of the call to be a witness to God is for every Christian.
We read in several spots throughout the New Testament that we as Christians were commissioned by Christ to be a witness of him. So, what exactly does it mean to be a witness what are we supposed to do?
If we take a look into the gospel of John 1:6-37 at John the Baptist in the wilderness he’s been preaching and baptizing a multitude of people and when Jesus arrives the first time God reveals Jesus to John as the “son in which I am well pleased” all while Jesus was being baptized by John. As we continue reading the text we see as Jesus returns to where John is in the wilderness and John proclaims to everyone “Behold! The lamb of God that take the away the sins of the world”. When we present Christ to the world we need to say his name that makes people long to known who he is.
“What if I’m too shy to proclaim the name of Christ in the same way?”
In Acts chapter 1:8 we se as Christ gives the promise of the Holy Ghost and the power that will come. Christ tells the disciple that it will make you a “WITNESS unto me”.
Christ called us to be a witness of him to the lost world around us.
I want to challenge you to talk to one (just one) person about Jesus everyday if you do this and they except Christ and they witness to one before long the kingdom of God has grown exponentially.
